CIO Executive Council
The CIO Executive Council, is made up of the Chief Information Officers (CIO) from 19 of the largest NSW Government agencies, and Government Chief Information Office. Together, these agencies represent the majority of Government’s total ICT budget.
The CIO Council is an advisory body, responsible for overseeing the implementation of People First.
While responsibility for the implementation and delivery of People First programs remains with the Government Chief Information Office, collaboration with NSW Government agencies through the Council is critical to its success.
The Council is responsible for:
- Implementation of People First.
- Developing, implementing and promoting government-wide ICT initiatives that save taxpayers money and provide better services to the people of NSW.
- Identifying ICT products and services that can be shared and used by all agencies.
- Maximising use of common applications, infrastructure and processes to increase integration, better manage common business functions and reduce costs.
- Identifying opportunities to improve strengthen the government’s buying power by presenting a government-wide view to suppliers.
- Actively sharing operational experience, technical expertise, best practices, skills and resources with other agencies.
- Promoting the role of CIOs in the public sector and elevating information and communications technology as an executive-level issue in government.
The CIO Council is chaired by Emmanuel Rodriguez, NSW Government Chief Information Officer.
